You are a badass!
Stop doubting your greatness and start living an awesome life
“SO OFTEN, WE PRETEND WE‘VE MADE A DECISION WHEN WHAT WE'VE REALLY DONE IS SIGNED UP TO TRY UNTIL IT GETS TOO UNCOMFORTABLE.”
- JEN SINCERO
Do you doubt your greatness?
Last weekend I went on a roadtrip to see an author who I have been following for quite some time. Jen Sincero wrote a series of books entitled You Are a Badass. The title intrigued me, because it came at a time when I was not feeling anywhere near badass. I had just lost my husband, and I was trying to get through the day-to-day. And, if I am to be honest, I really did not feel like a badass before my husband died either. But, I wanted to be one for me and for my three daughters. I wanted to prove to them and to myself that one—albeit major and tragic—situation was not going to bring our family down.
So I wanted to figure out how to get there. Granted, this was not an overnight process, but my first step was to figure out why I was doubting my greatness. Women are especially vulnerable to this.
First things first. What is your GREATNESS?
Your greatness is the gifts you have that people love about you. It’s the things you’re naturally gifted at and enjoy doing. It’s your feeling of inner strength and confidence that helps keep you focused on your purpose in life. Your greatness is who you are at your core. It’s the best version of yourself as a human being, friend, family member, neighbor and leader.
Here are some things you might be thinking or doing that are getting in the way of your greatness:
Do you care too much about what others think?
Do you over-prepare for things?
Do you not exert yourself because you are afraid of being wrong?
Do you avoid taking risks?
Do you replay moments in your head when you have felt wronged?
